Hello readers.
Spring is here! We have longer and warmer days. We seem to enjoy more time each day. But how do we spend our time?
My personality type is ‘activist/pragmatist’, which has some advantages of engaging in many tasks, but at the expense of taking time to just think, reflect, and ponder.
Our church strap-line, is God IN, Love OUT. Like a heartbeat. 2 actions, in that order, constantly.
To take God ‘IN’, we all have to be intentional about our time. To EN-joy our time we need to IN-joy regular time just pausing, praying, journaling with God.
As part of my Ministry training, I have the privilege of monthly meetings with my Spiritual Director,  Wendy. There always seem more urgent tasks on these days, but as I drive home I realise Spiritual time is my best time.
Why not join Wendy and I on Saturday 16th March, 9.30am till 3pm, for learning and practicing Spiritual in-filling? This is free, all it costs is your intentional use of your God-given time.

Dr. Dave Garrard flies to Ethiopia!

Dave Garrard’s trip to Ethiopia.

Dave is due to fly out from Manchester Airport tomorrow evening, Friday 1 February, just after 7pm. It is a direct flight to Addis Ababa, apart from calling at Brussels en route for more passengers. Dave will spend one month in Ethiopia visiting church planters and giving Bible teaching.

– Please pray that the current severe weather will not affect his flight tomorrow, and that the journey will go well.

– Pray for good health for Dave and for him to know God’s guidance and anointing in all he does

Pastor’s blog February 2019.

I know many of you are really enjoying ‘The Bible course’ written by Dr. Andrew Ollerton from the Bible Society. I encourage you to get into the rhythm of this daily reading.

Stan’s Study group and our Home group have now finished, and Morton New Day are progressing through our Sunday services.

We have just finished Revelation, where the apostle John gets a glimpse, (apokalypsis means ‘unveiling’), of heaven. The new heaven and earth, coming down to Believers, and the shout, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man!” For me, this is the Alpha and Omega. We start with the perfect Garden of Eden, Tree of Life, and this is where we finish, (or more accurately start), our new and never-ending chapter.  Tree of perfect life, (no illness, leave alone death), and seeing Jesus face to face!

This is a certain hope we all need to spend some intentional time grappling with. In every sense, spiritual & physical, dwelling with God, in perfect-ness, and forever.

In his book The Last Battle, C.S. Lewis writes, ‘All their life in this world…had only been the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever; in which every chapter is better than the one before.’

Our life now is a blessing, but there is so much more to come through God’s saving Grace.

Dear Prayer Partners,

Thank you for joining us in prayer this week. ‘Don’t be anxious… but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God’ (Phil 4:6). Here’s our latest news to help you praise and pray for the work of CAM International.

Congo presidential elections: Things are relatively quiet at present across Congo, despite the disputed election results. Other African leaders seem to have accepted the outcome and, with some exceptions, the Congolese people are keeping calm. The new president, Tshisekedi, is due to be sworn in this Thursday, 24 Jan. Pray for Congo to experience its first peaceful transfer of power since 1960, and for better times to follow, bringing stability and peace for the people.

Gordon & Sybil McKillop ask for prayer for a practical issue. They have no road tax or MOT for their vehicles as yet. ‘We are working hard with the authorities to rectify this, but need the Lord’s help.’ Pray that, whatever the problem, God will make a way for this issue to be resolved.

Sybil is working with Sam Livingston in the Good News Clubs at Kahanda School, which is near Nyangombe (see below). Pray that she may be a good help to him, with her many years of experience with children’s work in Zambia.

Sam Livingston starts work in Kahanda School this week, working with Sybil McKillop (see above). They are covering most of the pupils through the Good News Clubs they run. Some young people help with interpreting for the younger children (who speak Lunda and have to learn English when they start school). Pray for practical help, as the classes are very large. Pray for God’s Word to impact these children, and for the helpers to be trained in ministry. Pray for more Lunda Bibles to be available at Nyangombe.

Daniel Habtey has been promoting his online Leadership course for the Eritrean diaspora through video clips on Facebook, etc. This course will run from February to September. Pray that many Eritreans will choose to follow the training programme. On Sunday, Daniel plans to go to Leeds to share his story and God’s Word at Bridge Community Church in the morning, and with the Ethiopian Eritrean Church in the afternoon. Pray for a fruitful day of ministry.

Kudzai & Sanel Mandizha, who work in Harare, Zimbabwe, sent a message that things are very bad in the country at present. We know from the general news that there has been a week of turmoil, with violent protestsafter the price of fuel more than doubled.Pray that peace may be restored and that the Mandizhas may be able to continue with their ministries.

ON LEAVE

Carol Seymour and Ginny Perkins flew to Denmark today for two weeks with a missionary friend they met in Zambia many years ago. Pray for God to bless their time there.

Lloyd & Sandy Rowlands are in Adelaide, Australia.  Pray for them as they seek God’s guidance for the future.

Wanderley & Rosaria da Silva are in Brazil. They have one month left before they are due to return to Mozambique (23 Feb). Rosaria underwent dental surgery last week, which was successful, but she is still waiting for some medical tests to be completed.  Pray that these may be done soon, so that there will not be a need to change the tickets.

OUR MISSIONARIES AND MINISTRY PARTNERSMuch missionary work is routine and repetitive, but prayer support is still needed for our personnel in their regular ministries:-

Carol Seymour and Ginny Perkins, based at the Living Waters Centre, Lubumbashi,CONGO, work together in prison ministry, village church evangelism and media broadcasting. Ginny works with children and young people at the Lighthouse Project.

(Currently in UK because of the uncertain situation in Congo, based in Fakenham, Norfolk.)

Lloyd & Sandy Rowlands are based at the Living Waters Centre, Lubumbashi, CONGO.Lloyd helps with maintenance of the Centre and has developed the orchard to teach grafting and other skills. He ministers in local churches and conducts Development seminars. Sandy teaches English at ISTELU Bible College and looks after hospitality.

(Currently in Australia because of the uncertain situation in Congo, based in Adelaide.)

Gordon & Sybil McKillop, based in Nyangombe, ZAMBIA, minister in Bible School teaching, youth and children’s work and church visitation. Gordon specializes in farm supervision, skills training, and maintenance of buildings, vehicles and machinery. Sybildoes medical and pharmacy work and Sunday school ministries.

Sam Livingston, a new missionary in Nyangombe, ZAMBIA, is a youth worker evangelizing through Christian clubs in schools, football coaching, sport and computer skills.

Wanderley & Rosaria da Silva, based in Chimoio, MOZAMBIQUE, are setting up a Vocational Training Centre (VTC), running a pre-school and evangelizing in a deprived area of the city.

(Currently on leave in Brazil.)

Daniel Habtey (CAM partner), based in Huddersfield, UK, is an Eritrean pastor who arrived as a refugee and is now committed to helping Eritreans and other displaced people with integration in churches and communities. CAM partners with him in his ‘Joseph Project’.

Kudzai & Sanel Mandizha (CAM partners),based in Harare, ZIMBABWE, work on a daily basis to feed and minister to needy street kids in Harare. They also have a ministry to childless couples, sharing from their own experiences. They have launched a church and aim to hold monthly leadership seminars.

Bahati Masuka (CAM partner), based in UK, is from TANZANIA and is planning visits there of 2-3 months to set up and run a Leadership Academy. He will train church leaders as well as church members involved in secular work, especially those with influence in the Government, the legal system, etc.

CAM supports Church Planters in ETHIOPIA, enabling them to take the Gospel into unreached areas.
