6. June, Derek, ‘The New Normal’, (2min read)
June 2020
As a man sat reading his newspaper one morning the doorbell rang, opening the door he was greeted by a delivery driver, standing at the regulation two metres distance,
“Parcel there for you”, he said, pointing towards the doorstep,
“Thanks”, replied the man, picking up the box,
“Something good?” asked the driver,
“I think it’s my new normal” replied the man, smiling.
Obviously fiction; the delivery driver wouldn’t have had time to stand chatting with so many deliveries to make in a day!!
We hear a lot of the coming “new normal” at the moment; the way the world will be when we finally resume life, free of the restrictions which we currently live under.
None of us knows just what the new normal will be like (or what size box it will come in). We will, no doubt, adapt to it in the same way that we have adapted to queuing outside supermarkets and meeting family and friends over Skype, Zoom or whatever means you choose.
We are, if nothing else, adaptable, and have been through the ages.
No doubt there will be grumbling, possibly wailing and gnashing of teeth, but enough about parliament.
We can look back to the old testament book of Exodus and see that as Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, they complained;
Exodus 16: 2, “Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.”
It’s human nature; change that’s thrust upon us often doesn’t meet with a warm welcome, even if it is for our own good.
One thing that we can be certain of, even if our lives are changed dramatically, is the unchanging nature of Jesus Christ. This is confirmed in God’s word;
Hebrews 13: 8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”
In an uncertain, changing world it is a great comfort to us to know, with complete certainty, that our Lord and Saviour is, was and forever shall be unchanging.
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand.
Keep safe and well.
God bless you all.
Derek.

MND finances £££
Good evening folk. I received a phone call today from a member. They tried to set up a direct debit/standing order between their bank and us. (Thank you!). They failed because we had a number missing on our account number on this site! So…please see on the top row (2nd from right) the tab ‘GIVING’. It is now correct an works!
We are NOT about money, but are biblically called to ‘give with a cheerful heart.’ Our strap-line is God IN, love OUT. We are supporting Home Mission, Baptist Missionary Society, Brighter Future, CAM International, and more. It amazes me how our little church punches above our weight. God has/is/will always provide, provides through our actions, and as he Abides In US, knows our hearts. Thanks everso to all who give, in whatever form, and be blessed. Pastor Andy <><
